What is semantic search?
- In a semantic search, patents are found on the basis of their meaning and not just by keywords. For this purpose, terms within the full patent text that make up the invention content are identified using semantic-linguistic algorithms, and "invention clouds" are calculated from this, which characterize all patents individually.
- During the search, the similarity of such invention clouds is compared to return hits.
- The user therefore does not need to worry about creating synonyms, but simply enters a significant text (claim, description). The similarity search is performed algorithmically in such a way that patents whose invention clouds are as close as possible to the input text are found as similar patents
- This results in a higher quality of results, as the search is not only based on specific terms entered, but a semantic similarity is actually assessed.
