µGrain is a tool for microstructural analysis in metallography
The μGrain tool comprehensively maps the work activities that occur in metallography in the materials laboratory during image processing.
Automatic optimization of your microscope camera images:
- Image calibration by means of object micrometer
- Correction of distortion and chromatic aberration
- Image optimization (compensation of uneven image brightness and contrast)
Editing of structural images:
- Dimensioning and labeling images
- Dimensioning function "Distance line"
- Label naming
- Image editing
- Line ends of dimension lines optionally possible with short cross lines
Grain size analysis:
- Grain and phase size analysis using line intersection method according to ASTM E112
- Three algorithms for automatic grain boundary and phase boundary detection
Analysis of phase components even when images are far from perfect:
- manual point counting (e.g. ferrite content for duplex steels according to ASTM E562 and ISO 9042) with full software support
- automatic phase analysis (ASTM E1245)
Report generation:
- Complete statistical analysis and reporting (Microsoft Excel, OpenOffice Calc).
µGrain is designed as an add-on to existing image acquisition systems and works with almost any image acquisition system. The tool can be used as an add-on for older systems. Due to the automatic image optimization and image correction algorithms, µGrain is the ideal upgrade for older or simpler microscopes and microscope cameras.
However, the tool is also a cost-effective alternative to many dimensioning modules, image processing modules or phase analysis modules for newer systems.
