A communications technology company is looking for software or hardware (independent speech recognition) for a retirement home.
A deaf nurse is employed at the retirement home. The older residents should be able to call the deaf nurse, for example by saying the word “nurse”. A message should then appear on the nurse's phone display, signaling that she has been called.
The idea is that several microphones are distributed in this room and that these can be connected to the telephone system with the help of software. (via microphone input and switch contact).
The software should be as simple and affordable as possible.
Note from SoftGuide:
This is a combined hardware and software solution for which we could not find a suitable solution in our database. Speech recognition software would have to be used to read in data via external microphones and recognize the speech pattern for “nurse”, for example. In this case, a task would be triggered (task software) that sends an SMS or pager message.
Many smartphones have integrated speech recognition software (e.g. Siri). Speech recognition is also used for voice-controlled text input on PCs (e.g. Dragon) . However, special microphones (e.g. SpeechMike) are designed more as part of a dictation solution. We see a problem here with filtering out background noise and the associated false alarms.
A pager solution may be an alternative, with commands sent via wireless transmitter to a wristband pager with vibration alarm.
